The Doobie Brothers

Rock

The Doobie Brothers are pioneers of the California rock 'n' roll sound of the '70s. Formed in Oakland, the band evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, they racked up a string of gold and platinum albums, along with a number of radio hits such as "Listen to the Music," "Black Water" and "China Grove." As of 2016, the band included three prominent members of the classic lineup: singer Tom Johnston and guitarists Patrick Simmons and John McFee.
