About Town

N. Dash

The Aldrich will stage the first East Coast museum exhibition of artist N. Dash (b. 1980). N. Dashís work spans painting, sculpture, photography and drawing and employs both natural and manmade materials, including pigments, adobe/ mud, jute, graphite, fabric, polystyrene, and found objects. Across these materials, the artistís inimitable approach seeks to both record sensory and informational capacities of touch and render typically unseen conduits of energy: ecological, architectural, and corporeal. The Aldrich presentation will debut a new body of paintings that exhibit persistent and new directions. The artistís first monograph will accompany the exhibition and will include an essay by Amy Smith-Stewart, the exhibitionís curator.

Sara Cwynar

The Aldrich will present the first East Coast exhibition of artist Sara Cwynar (b. 1985), whose practice spans photography, video, installation and bookmaking and surveys the transitory object-life of visual matter in our time of image infatuation. The exhibition will feature new and recent work by the artist. Using an accumulative archive of images and objects, culled from libraries, public archives, dollar stores, and eBay, Cwynar combines archival imagery and out-of-date objects with new digital technologies and archaic analogue processes to expose how images are produced, trafficked and mimed over time.
